Forney Museum of Transportation

The Forney Museum of Transportation is located at 4303 Brighton Blvd in Denver, CO. The museum has over 900 pieces and is a must-see for anybody visiting the city. The Museum of the American Road was established by J.D. Forney, an engineer who also developed the Instant Heat Soldering Iron and Welding Machine. The museum began in 1955 as a small collection and has evolved into a comprehensive transportation museum with nearly everything on wheels on display.

The Forney Museum of Transportation houses one-of-a-kind antique automobile collections. Trains, bicycles, coaches, and steam locomotives soon joined the collection. The museum also houses a vintage wardrobe and toy exhibit. You may visit a steam locomotive and a Kissel ‘Gold Bug’ from 1913. The museum also contains a collection of antique motorcycles, as well as the Timme Vintage Motorcycle Collection.

You can also watch live shows at Red Rocks Amphitheater, which is the largest outdoor performing space in the United States. Its amphitheater seats 9,525 people and provides stunning panoramic views of the Front Range. If you’re in town for a concert, it’s worth a trip. Diplo is performing at Red Rocks Amphitheater in January, and there are several other events on the calendar.

Despite its name, this museum is far more than a transportation museum. The museum is a not-for-profit organization that relies on the generosity of contributors and members of the community to keep running. It is an important element of the cultural landscape of Denver and the surrounding area. It’s a must-see for everyone who visits. And don’t forget to see Margaret Brown’s home, which was converted into a fascinating house museum in the 1970s.

The museum is open seven days a week, from 10 am to 5 pm, and there are some special dates to keep in mind. The museum is closed on many national holidays. Children and elderly persons are entitled to discounts on admission, while children under the age of three are free. Free parking is available at the museum, only charged during special events. The museum is in a historic fire station that used to be a fire station.

The Civic Center complex, which was completed in 1894 and housed the city’s government at the time, is another fascinating sight. The dome made of gold leaf celebrates the Colorado Gold Rush. The structure was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1970, and it was designated a National Historic Landmark in 2012. It’s a beautiful building with a stunning rooftop pool and a New Belgium brewery outpost.
