Bluff Lake Nature Preserve

Bluff Lake Nature Preserve

The Bluff Lake Nature Center is a non-profit organization that runs and owns an unusual urban wildlife refuge and outdoor classroom in Denver, Colorado. The refuge is home to a wide range of animals as well as native plants that flourish in a range of settings. The city’s biggest open space maintained as natural habitat is Bluff Lake, which is also the city’s only non-profit nature center. We are entirely funded through public donations.

Tens of thousands of people visit Bluff Lake each year for a variety of reasons, including communing with nature and connecting with it or one of our regular programs or events. It’s the ideal location to spend the day with the family!

Bluff Lake is a haven for hundreds of species of birds, mammals, insects, and flora. If you want to see some examples of what you might find on a nature center tour, check out their website for photographs and descriptions. Bluff Lake is home to one of the greatest birding sites in all of North America! The magnificent avian environment has attracted a large and active community of birders, who have aided in the identification of 226 different species. Who wouldn’t want to spend their day seeing beautiful places? The website also provides free downloads with useful information so you can give yourself a tour!

In the woods, another one of Bluff Lake’s many exciting things to do is forest bathing. Bathing in the Forest (Shinrin-Yoku) is a Japanese practice for getting into nature and “swimming” in all that surrounds you, which has been popularized by practitioners. This technique was developed in Japan throughout the 1980s to decrease tension and enhance well-being. To add to the soothing, two-hour guided walk, you’ll be prompted to open your senses and connect with nature in a more profound way. Adults and teenagers are welcome on this trip.

Bluff Lake has a little of everything for everyone, whether you’re celebrating a birthday, organizing a field trip, or simply looking for something to do on the weekend. They have what you need, as well as summer activities.

The Bluff Lake Nature Preserve offers a unique chance for youngsters and kids to learn about the outdoors! Weekly Camp Themes for children ages 5-6 or 7-12 are offered, as well as a Junior Counselor Program for youths 13-17.  Each day of the week, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., kids or teenagers may attend these camps at no cost. These camps are for youngsters or teens who have the energy to play, learn, and create a better future for themselves and the planet!

Bluff Lake lets campers better understand and value the natural world by combining weekly environmental themes, nature trips, animal encounters, hands-on activities, games, crafts, and free creek play. Campers will be able to explore, participate in activities, and be noticed throughout the week thanks to smaller groups organized by age and parent preferences! At the conclusion of each week, parents will get camp pictures as well as activity reports from the counselors, allowing them to take part.

Bluff Lake is a fantastic method to unwind from everyday worries and have some fun. Whether you’re going hiking, cycling, or taking part in the lessons, you’ll enjoy the experience!
